NYC 80's Gay Disco Part 1

I was 18 yrs old and I was a Dancer at the "Show Palace, All Male Follies". It took only 30 days to become the night manager and resident DJ of the Show Palace. I was able to obtain a sublet in NYC for only 60 days then had to find a new place. Home, which was Long Island was only a LLRR train away.
My first place was a fully furnished brown stone on Gay and Bleecker St. NYC was my home now, well at least for 60 days.

The hot club on the Westside on Saturday was "Alex in Wonderland". Leather men, gay clones and then there was us...."The Dancers". Leaving our baggage on the dance floor and leaving it hours behind. The club had 3 floors. Basement was ....well..... a sex club. 1st floor was the entrance to the disco and then there was 2nd floor..Restroom with a black light to light your way. Adjacent to the restrooms was this make out place. Very dark room that if you're aren't careful, you won't have a wallet when you leave.
All around the club was the painted pictures of "Alex" and his adventures in "Wonderland". Almost every picture was day glow paint to illuminate the black light and there was always a giant Phallic.

Once you've been there a couple of time you get to know the regulars and some of the staff. Especially those who been bad boys and taken some heavy drugs. The acid heads that would twitch, then smile uncontrollable. The Periodico Men who stuck so much talc up their nose that the can't stop grinding their teeth and then the dreaded Downers who would take Tuenal or Ludes then keep falling asleep
every 5 seconds like one of the toy bird drinking from a glass of water, bobbing over and over again.

Didn't know how I was going to fit in with all this crazy....but I did.

So, Feel the pulse of the lower West Side Meat Packing District,
Where the gays came to play. These were the songs of the gay clubs like
Alex in Wonderland, The Cock Ring, The Anvil and Jay's.
So grab your popper and get out on the dance floor.
BPM 128-130
